Westchester Man With Suspended License Caught With Ecstasy, Police Say

An 22-year-old Northern Westchester man with a suspended license is facing charges after he was caught with ecstasy in Putnam, according to the Putnam Sheriff.

Members of the Putnam Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) say they observed a driver commit a traffic violation in the Town of Putnam Valley on Thursday, July 11.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Paul Andrew Smith, of Ossining, and the passenger, identified as Michelle Rush, 20, of Penfield, were in possession of marijuana, according to NEU members.

Smith was also found to be in possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) and had been driving with a suspended license, NEU members say.

Smith and Rush were arrested and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility. Smith faces the following charges:

  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
  • Third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation

Rush was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Smith and Rush are scheduled to appear in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court on a future date.
